Paddel Buch take the security and privacy of personal data seriously, and has been designed on the principal of respecting your privacy.
Paddel Buch is hosted on AWS Amplify and when you visit the site or use the API limited data is gathered about your visit in the AWS Amplify Access Logs.
Whilst data is gathered about your visit, Paddel Buch expressly tries to avoid gathering any data about you wherever technically possible, and to minimise, anonymise, and delete such data in all cases.
The following sections describe in detail how each of these data sources is handled to achieve these aims.
AWS Amplify Access Logs
Paddel Buch is hosted on AWS Amplify in Frankfurt, Germany (the eu-central-1 region), and Amplify gathers default access logs as part of this service. These logs record each request the AWS Amplify Hosting receives from browsers, and the outcome of each request. These logs do include the IP address the request was received from, and unfortunately there's no option to disable this.
Unfortunately AWS do not provide a separate privacy policy for AWS Amplify Hosting, and it is instead covered by overall privacy policy for AWS. Details of the data gathered by the default access logs can be found in the AWS CloudFront documentation.
Retention Period for Access Logs
These logs are retained by AWS for two weeks and are automatically and permanently deleted when this time limit is reached.
Usage of Access Logs
These logs are used to monitor and analyse the usage of Paddel Buch for purposes including but not limited to:
Detecting errors the may occur while visitors are accessing the site or API
Analysing the usage of the site for purposes such as financial management and capacity planning
Paddel Buch does not use these logs to track the behaviour or activity of identifiable individual visitors.
Cookies Policy
Paddel Buch does not set or use cookies for any purpose. That's why you won't see a cookie consent banner here!
Processing of Geolocation Information
When you use the geolocation feature the Paddel Buch website processes the location information provided by your device. This information is processed entirely and solely on your device in your web browser and is not sent to Paddel Buch.
This feature may also store a short term cache of your location history to provide this functionality. This cache is also stored and processed only on your device in your web browser and is not sent to Paddel Buch.

Paddel Buch uses the following third-party services to enable our maps to work.

Mapbox provides the map tiles for the maps on site, except those on the data quality dashboards.. When you access maps on Paddel Buch, your browser contacts Mapbox and downloads data from their services.
Mapbox may gather data about you during this process, such as your IP address.
Mapbox's privacy policy applies to these interactions.
OpenFreeMap
OpenFreeMap provides the map tiles for the data quality dashboards only. When you access this Paddel Buch page, your browser contacts OpenFreeMap and downloads data from their services.

Tinylytics
Tinylytics provides privacy perserving, GDPR-compliant analytics for the site. When you access Paddel Buch, limited data is exchanged with Tinylytics about your visit. This data is used for the following purposes:
Determine the amount of visitors Paddel Buch receives, primarily to support capacity planning and cost management.
Determine which features visitors Paddel Buch utilise, primarily to support capacity planning and cost management.
Monitor the availablity of Paddel Buch and detect errors which may occur.
The data may also be used for other purposes in the legitimate interest of maintaining and improving Paddel Buch.
